An unexpected turn of events. The defeat at Ciutat de Valencia practically left the Carbayón squad relegated but, after a 6/6 against Sevilla and Celta, the spirits of the local fans have returned. Maintaining hope will depend on a victory against a Champions League rival, Villarreal. That said, with few other aspirations this season (beyond keeping third place in the fight with Atlético de Madrid).

The lineup Almada usually fields is quite determined. The doubts might have been in central defense, but these 2 clean sheets will probably mean Calvo and Bailly remain in the starting lineup. In midfield, the position was usually contested by Fonseca and Colombatto, but the former will be out due to yellow card accumulation. 

Injured are Forés and Dendoncker. Ilic is finalizing his recovery and is already touching the grass.

Villarreal CF

After their victory at San Mamés in the last matchday of La Liga, Villarreal remain in third place on the table, taking advantage of the negligence of an Atlético de Madrid completely focused on other competitions and who will probably continue dropping points with Arsenal looming on the horizon.

Marcelino’s men will try to keep adding three points at a time, this time visiting an Oviedo team that needs a miracle to stay up and who, therefore, are expected to put up a fight in front of their fans.

Regarding absences, to the injured Foyth, Pau Cabanes and Logan Costa, is added the absence of Comesaña due to suspension, while Thomas is a doubt because of the discomfort he has been carrying for the past few weeks.

Thus, the yellow lineup is expected to be very similar to the one that achieved victory in Bilbao, with Parejo replacing the suspended Comesaña, with Alfon and Buchanan fighting to keep their spots against the usual Moleiro and Pepé, and with the doubt regarding the partner of Gerard Moreno, between Mikautadze, Oluwaseyi, and Pepé himself.
