Eray Cömert was one of the negative notes in Valencia CF’s defeat at the Martínez Valero. The Swiss defender had to leave the match in the final stretch of the second half after remaining in pain on the pitch during the play just before Elche’s 1-0 goal. Pepelu came on in his place, and the image of the center-back, clearly showing signs of discomfort, raised concern within the Che squad.

After the game, Carlos Corberán slightly eased the uncertainty by explaining that Cömert “received a blow to the hip” and that’s why he could not continue. Still, the coach also regretted that Valencia did not handle that play well, with their center-back on the ground, a sequence that ended up costing them the goal and, likely, part of the match. For now, there is no definitive medical report, so they will have to wait for the player's progression and possible additional tests to know the real extent of the problem.

The concern is no small matter at Mestalla, because Valencia’s defense is under heavy strain.
