The center-back finished the match against Celta de Vigo with hamstring discomfort and trained separately this Wednesday. There is no serious injury, but the player must stop and will be out of the visit to Martínez Valero.

Since his arrival in the winter transfer window, the Basque player has gained importance in the coach’s plans, partly due to his ability to adapt to different roles in the backline. At Valencia he has played both as a center-back and as a full-back depending on the needs, in a period also marked by the absence of Thierry Correia.

The goal is for him to be available for the match against Mallorca, taking advantage of the weekend without league competition due to the Copa del Rey. If his progress is favorable, Unai will start field training next week, provided those discomforts improve.

Both the medical staff and the player himself prefer not to take risks: if he does not make it to Palma, the alternative would be to return in Girona. Carlos Corberán counts on Tárrega and Cömert as the only ‘healthy’ center-backs and on Thierry Correia to play at right-back.
