FIRST HALF

Levante started with great intensity and managed to take the lead very early on. Carlos Espí was the main protagonist, scoring a brace in just twenty minutes. He first opened the scoring in the 4th minute after a good attacking move and later, in the 25th minute, he appeared again to make it 2-0, reflecting Levantes dominance in that phase of the match.

When it seemed the match was under local control, Real Oviedo reacted strongly. The visitors first goal came from a great cross by Javi López, who found Chairas head, and he finished accurately to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

The Asturian sides pressure was rewarded just before halftime. After an action inside the box, the referee awarded a penalty for Oviedo, and Federico Viñas did not miss from the spot, scoring the 2-2 equalizer.

Thus, the game went into halftime tied after a first half with two very distinct phases: clear Levante control at the start and a very effective final reaction from Oviedo.

SECOND HALF

The second half began in the best possible way for Levante UD. Right at the start, after a great pass from Tunde from the edge of the area, Íker Losada connected a first-time shot with his right foot that, with a bit of luck after bouncing off Sibo, ended in the back of the net to make it 3-2 on the scoreboard.

Minutes later, Íker Losada had to leave the field after falling to the ground due to head discomfort. Captain Pablo Martínez came on in his place. Because it was a substitution due to a possible concussion, both teams had an additional substitution window.

As time passed, Real Oviedo took control of the ball, showing longer possession and trying to cause damage through wide transitions. On their part, Levante opted to fall back into a more compact, defensive block, trying to protect the lead.

Still, the home team had a great chance to extend the lead from a free-kick on the edge of the area, but Víctor Garcías shot went over the goal defended by Aarón Escandell.

In the 80th minute, Olasagasti pulled off a great individual move inside the box, leaving David Costas behind with a cutback, but at the moment of the shot he stumbled, resulting in a tame effort that was easy for the Asturian goalkeeper.

In the final stretch, referee Gil Manzano added nine minutes of extra time. It was precisely in that added time that Levante sealed the match after a good recovery by Iván Romero. The forward went one-on-one with Aarón and finished accurately to the near post, signing off the final 4-2.
