Painful draw at the Pizjuán, where Coudet's side had a numerical advantage from the 16th minute and with VAR disallowing a Boyé goal by millimeters. The same result that Girona, precisely, earned in Seville a few matchdays ago. Míchel’s team visits Mendizorroza with a three-point advantage, while the relegation zone is two points behind the Babazorros, so a home win seems crucial. Alavés succumbed 1-0 in the first leg, while they have not been able to beat Girona in Vitoria since 2019 (including Wakaso's goal).

El Chacho recovers Jonny after suspension and the injured Koski and Protesoni, who will not start. The good game by Yusi against Almeyda’s team gives him some chance to stay in the starting eleven, while the good performance of Ángel Pérez in the second half could mean the return of Calebe to the bench, because the Brazilian has not really taken off despite Carlos Vicente’s departure. The rest of the eleven should be similar, although there is still some doubt about the midfield partnership. Toni Martínez is still on a hot streak, so we'll see his duo with Boyé again.

Girona FC

A historic matchday was lived last Monday at Montilivi. Míchel’s team pulled off one of the best games of the season and was rewarded with 3 points in the Catalan derby, defeating a full-strength F.C. Barcelona and putting themselves 5 points above the relegation places. A very good performance was shown by the entire team. 

A crucial match will be played this matchday between Alavés and Girona. A duel that could determine survival; both teams are not in a bad run, so we will see a good match. If Girona gets three points, it could catapult them closer to the European spots. We will see which way the balance tips. 

As for the lineup, Míchel will not be able to count on Joel Roca, who saw a red card against F.C. Barcelona. Of the other injured, we will see if Ounahi can return and get a few minutes.
