Matías Vecino arrived as a last-minute signing on deadline day and, in a few days, was already available to the coaching staff. Although he was called up for a match against Osasuna, his debut did not happen and is postponed for a stretch of the calendar with consecutive games.

Acquired on the last day of the transfer window, Matías Vecino was included in the squad to face Osasuna just three days after his arrival, but he did not get to play. His debut is expected to happen in a week with three matches for Celta, who will visit Espanyol and PAOK, and in between, host Mallorca at Balaídos.

At the club, it is believed that the Uruguayan international's trajectory can bring a competitive edge, especially in the Europa League. After completing the initial adaptation period to Claudio Giraldez's plan, the midfielder is now ready to participate. Additionally, despite arriving in winter, he comes with rhythm due to his regular presence with Lazio in Serie A.

Ramadán and managing minutes in March

His arrival also gains significance considering the upcoming month, as Ramadán will require a distribution of minutes for Ilaix Moriba. As a reference, last season Giraldez only gave him 15 minutes against Leganés, and the following week, he played 15 minutes against Valladolid.

The daily fasting period begins this year on the night of Tuesday, February 17, two days before the Europa League match against PAOK. During this time, the team from Vigo will face the European tie and, in the league, will play against Mallorca (18:30), Girona (21:00), Real Madrid (21:00), and Betis (time to be confirmed). The schedule is relevant because Ramadán prohibits eating from dawn until sunset. This circumstance will also affect Jones El-Abdellaoui, the other Muslim member of the Vigo squad.
