Rayo asks Leganés to play against Atlético in Butarque if the pitch is not in good condition

Rayo Vallecano keeps the organization of Sunday's match (16:15) against Atlético de Madrid on alert. The state of the grass at the Estadio de Vallecas, which already caused the postponement of the Rayo-Oviedo match last Saturday, remains crucial just a few days before the match.

Vallecas, racing against the clock with eyes set on Thursday

The franjirrojo club wants to maximize maintenance tasks so that the grass is in a condition to host an elite match. However, the plan B is already on the table: if by Thursday the venue does not offer guarantees and there is a risk of not being operational by Sunday, a change of venue would come into play.

In that scenario, Rayo Vallecano has requested Leganés on Tuesday afternoon that Butarque could host the match. The weather adds pressure, as rain in Madrid hinders the new sods from settling, with a forecast of intense precipitation until Friday.

LaLiga approves and Leganés offers its support

The option of relocation also has the approval of LaLiga, which has informed Leganés of its agreement with the change from Vallecas to Butarque.

On the other hand, Leganés—who plays away against Córdoba this Saturday—has extended a helping hand to Rayo to assist in whatever is needed and has confirmed that they have sufficient organizational capacity to host the match even with just three days' notice.
