Athletic - Levante
Match date: 08/02-16:15
Athletic Club
Ernesto Valverde's Athletic Club heads into this match focusing on SAN MAMÉS and regaining their form in LaLiga, at a delicate moment in terms of results. The lions are on a seven-game winless streak in the league, a run that has pushed them towards the mid-bottom of the table, making this match a highly demanding one. In the last Basque derby, the team struggled for long periods, but a crucial play by De Galarreta allowed them to salvage a point, which, while not enough to break away, at least avoided a bigger blow.
Valverde faces the match with a long list of absences. Maroan Sannadi remains out after knee surgery, with his return expected in February. Also unavailable are Beñat Prados and Unai Egiluz, both with anterior cruciate ligament tears, expected back in April and March, respectively. Added to these absences is Oihan Sancet, dealing with a hamstring injury and aiming to return by late February.
In terms of doubts, the main question mark is Dani Vivian, with a groin strain leading him to train separately from the group. Also uncertain is Álex Berenguer with muscle discomfort, which will determine his availability in the hours leading up to the clash. And as a potential game-changer, Nico Williams will be assessed to decide whether he starts or is kept as a substitute.
The main uncertainty lies in the central defense: if Vivian is unavailable, Laporte could start again after returning recently, while the alternative is to adjust the center-back pairing based on physical condition and the need for balance.

Levante U. D.
They must now visit the cathedral in their best form of the season, having earned 8 of the last 15 possible points since Luís Castro's arrival.
Following the solid defensive display by the Granotas against Atlético de Madrid, we do not expect changes in the backline at the always challenging San Mamés, with a Matías Moreno who appears fully recovered from the head injury suffered in a clash with Sorloth in the previous matchday.
The uncertainties arise in attack, where Etta Eyong is raising questions with a performance below expectations and with Iker Losada who could see his position in the starting eleven in jeopardy.
Regarding injuries, Pampín and Víctor García continue with injury concerns and will be sidelined, Elgezábal is progressing in his recovery but remains unavailable, and Brugui, who still has many weeks ahead of him, completes the Orriols' infirmary.
