Our club and Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of the young Italian left-back, who will wear the red and white jersey for the next five seasons.
Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of Matteo Ruggeri, a 22-year-old Italian left-back who will sign for our club until June 30, 2030.

Born on July 11, 2002, in the Lombard town of San Giovanni Bianco, he came up through Atalanta's academy since he was nine years old and made his first-team debut at 18 on November 3, 2020, in a Champions League match against Liverpool.

A left-back with a good cross and a lot of pace, during the 2021/22 season, he played on loan at Salernitana, from where he returned home to become an important piece in Gian Piero Gasperini's team.

After participating in 15 matches throughout the 2022/23 season, the following season would be his definitive breakthrough, playing 48 games across all competitions. In the 2023/24 season, he was chosen as a member of the UEFA Europa League's ideal eleven, which he won alongside today's Atlético player, Juan Musso, with whom he will share the dressing room once again.

An international in all the youth categories of the Italian national team, he was called up to the senior 'azzurra' team in March 2025, for the UEFA Nations League quarter-final against Germany, to continue gaining experience in a career with enormous potential.
