The case involving Kike Salas, Sevilla's center-back, continues to unfold. The investigation led by the National Police Center for Integrity in Sports and Betting (CENPIDA), attached to the UDEV, has taken an unexpected turn. As revealed by El Confidencial, key evidence has been found on the player's mobile phone placing him at the center of the scheme.

The report suggests that Salas used a fake account to bet on being cautioned during specific matches, an act pursued and classified as a crime. Furthermore, according to the same source, the footballer did not act alone: he coordinated with a friend on the strategy to split the betting profits.

On January 14th, Kike Salas was arrested and taken to a court in Morón de la Frontera, his hometown. There, he invoked his right to remain silent and was released on bail, pending a new summons as a suspect.

Initially, investigators focused their suspicions on the player's entourage, but the discovery on his personal device has narrowed the circle. The new evidence places the Sevilla center-back at the heart of a case that threatens to become one of the sporting scandals of the year.

If all goes according to the normal procedure, which will not be quick, the Sevilla center-back could face being heavily sanctioned and would not set foot on a playing field for several years.
