Will Julián Alvarez play in the derby against Real Madrid?
Julián Alvarez took an important step in his recovery this Friday by taking part in part of the training session with his teammates. The Argentine is improving from the muscle strain that has kept him out of the last two matches, although he has still not completed the session and his presence in the derby remains subject to how he progresses.

The forward started the morning working before the rest of the squad with the fitness coach Óscar Pitillas. During that first phase, he carried out speed drills and ball work to check how he felt before joining in with the group training.

DLLater, Julián Alvarez joined the group made up of the players who had not started on Wednesday. The attacker went through that stretch normally, a positive sign after missing the matches against Real Sociedad and Osasuna due to his muscle problems.
His involvement, however, was limited. After around 30 minutes and once again completing individual work, the Argentine left the training session. Before heading off, he even took a shot from the penalty spot. He showed no apparent discomfort, although he was also not in a condition to increase the intensity.
Attention now turns to Saturday's training. It will be the final session before the Atlético face the Real Madrid on Sunday at the Metropolitano at 16:15. That test will determine whether Diego Simeone can include the forward in the squad, although his presence in the starting XI looks more complicated.
Barrios and Sorloth still out
The rojiblanco squad trained in two groups. The starters against Osasuna completed a lower-intensity session, while the rest worked at a higher intensity. Ahead of the derby, changes are expected in the lineup, with options for Hancko, Pubill and Giuliano.
