The electoral race for the Real Madrid presidency has entered a new dimension. Enrique Riquelme and Florentino Perez raised the stakes yesterday with announcements of signings with huge impact, turning the transfer market into the main argument to win over the club's members ahead of the elections.

Real Madrid C.F.

The first to shake up the board was Enrique Riquelme, who put two top-tier names on the table: Erling Haaland and Rodri Hernández. The candidate said both players are part of his project if he manages to reach the Real Madrid presidency, in a move that inevitably recalls the big electoral promises of the past.

Riquelme ups the ante: Haaland, Rodri and a notary guarantee

The big bombshell from Riquelme came with Haaland. The Norwegian striker, one of the most decisive attackers in the world, was presented as the main game-changing blow of his candidacy. Alongside him, the name of Rodri also appears as a strategic piece to strengthen the Madrid midfield.

But Riquelme did not stop at names alone. The candidate wanted to bolster the credibility of his promise by saying he has signed a personal notary guarantee. As he explained, if he wins the election and does not deliver on the signings he has promised, he would pay the Real Madrid members' dues out of his own pocket.

The message is clear: Riquelme wants to position himself as an ambitious alternative, capable of igniting belief in Madridistas with two additions that would completely change the club's sporting landscape.

Florentino responds with Konaté and more reinforcements

Florentino Perez also did not fall behind. The current Real Madrid president announced that Ibrahima Konaté, Liverpool's centre-back, will play for the white club if he is re-elected. The French defender is presented as one of the major bets to strengthen a back line that needs new pieces of the highest level.

In addition, Florentino made it clear that Konaté would not be the only important signing for the defence. His message was direct: Real Madrid needs to strengthen every line and build again a squad ready to compete for all titles.

The white president also conveyed reassurance about the future of the team's biggest stars, making it clear that the project will continue to revolve around players like Vinícius, Mbappé and Bellingham.

Real signings or campaign promises?

For now, it is worth distinguishing between an electoral promise and a deal already closed. The names are on the table, but there are still no official signings. In Riquelme's case, the presence of a notary guarantee is meant to give weight to his message, although the market would depend on extremely complex negotiations with clubs and players.

For his part, Florentino is betting on a more continuity-driven line: specific names, defensive reinforcements, and a competitive squad. His candidacy is trying to convey confidence in the face of his rival's game-changing move.

The club's members will decide Real Madrid's sporting direction

The Real Madrid elections arrive with an enormous sporting burden. Haaland, Rodri, Konaté and possible new reinforcements have become campaign arguments. The white members will have to decide whether to back Florentino Perez's continuity or Enrique Riquelme's alternative project.

What seems clear is that the next president will face immediate pressure: to meet the expectations that have been created and build a Real Madrid capable of once again dominating in Spain and in Europe.

The campaign has entered its hottest phase and the market is already playing a decisive role. At Real Madrid, elections are also won by promising stars.
