Levante faces the last nine matchdays with the closest fight for survival and spirits high. In this context, the return of Carlos Álvarez to training with the group appears as an emotional and sporting boost for the final stretch.

Luís Castro’s team arrives after four games in which they have earned two wins and two draws, an 8 out of 12 that has allowed them to narrow the gap: survival is just three points away. This change of trend has raised hope at the Ciutat de València, which seeks to maintain momentum to get out of the relegation zone.

In this climb, Levante UD regains options with the gradual return of its attacking midfielder. Carlos Álvarez has a muscle injury in the right long adductor, suffered on February 28 in the match against Deportivo Alavés at the Ciutat de València, a setback that kept him out of important matches against Girona, Rayo Vallecano, and Real Oviedo. Last week he already completed part of the training with his teammates, after several days of specific individual work.

Attention is set on the match on Saturday, April 4 at 14:00 against Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena, the immediate stage on the calendar to assess his availability. The Sevillian, 22 years old and born in Sanlúcar la Mayor, had already suffered from a pubalgia issue at the start of the season, which sidelined him for part of pre-season.

The season, moreover, has not been easy in terms of continuity and fit. The player never quite found his best version either as a winger under Julián Calero, or as an attacking midfielder with Luís Castro, and injuries have influenced his impact. It is also noted that the Levante style in La Liga differs from that in Segunda, with a more tactical context and greater physical demand in duels with central defenders, factors that have affected his ability to exploit creativity and composure.

Even so, his role remains important within the squad. So far this season he has played 26 matches in La Liga, 22 of them as a starter, with three goals and one assist, adding up to 1,795 minutes, the sixth highest tally on the team. The Ciutat de València hopes he recovers that distinctive version that already left its mark with his late winner against Burgos at El Plantío, and the Sevillian has shown on several occasions this season his innate talent and his ability to improve his team’s attacks with every touch or intervention.
