Official Statement
Real Betis Balompié and Club Nacional de Fútbol have reached an agreement for the transfer of Uruguayan player Gonzalo Petit.
Gonzalo Ezequiel Petit Abad (Carmelo, 09/21/2006) developed in the ranks of Club Nacional de Fútbol, making the leap to the first team just last season at only 17 years old.
The Uruguayan forward arrives after a successful stint at Nacional, scoring 12 goals in 34 matches and contributing to the conquest of the 2024 Intermedio Tournament.
The new Betis signing is a regular in the Uruguayan national team's youth categories, currently a common presence in the U-20 national team selections.
Fantasy Recommendation
The idea for the Verdiblanco club is an immediate loan that allows Petit to adapt to the rhythm and demands of European football. And in that plan, Mirandés is in pole position. The memory of Raúl García de Haro's performance at Anduva weighs heavily. The Andalusian striker blossomed as a scorer in Miranda de Ebro before returning revalued, a precedent that is well received - indeed, highly - in Heliópolis. The successful cases of Joaquín Panichelli and Rodrigo Riquelme in the same destination are also considered.
Mirandés is not alone. Rayo, Racing, Sporting, Albacete, and Granada have also inquired. However, the profile of a club that bets on young talent and guarantees them a leading role places the Castilian-Leonese club at the forefront.
Petit is 18 years old, turning 19 in September, and his move to Spanish football is seen as the logical step before attempting to establish himself among the elite. His status as a non-EU player complicates, for now, his presence in the Betis first team squad. Betis already has Natan secured, has another spot reserved for Antony, and does not consider using the third spot for a player in a developmental phase. Nevertheless, the club is already working on the option to naturalize him in the medium term.
The sports management had been monitoring Petit for some time and closed the deal despite interest from clubs like Leipzig. The player himself understood that Spain is the ideal environment to start his European career. At Betis, they are clear that the future has already begun.
